Environmental Commitment

"Creating a sustainable future through education."

The future is a Greener Education!

The Animal Naturopathic Medicine Ēducātum has been exploring better ways to provide education in an environmentally sustainable manner.

In 2016 we started the pathway to move our education programs to an online platform. In 2020, we advanced this process of the online curriculum delivery due to the changing education climate caused from Covid-19.

Reducing our environmental impact by reducing paper and printing by up to 95%, a greener education, is a healthier education and a movement towards more sustainable and inclusive ways to educate are continually on our agenda.

The college embraces the concept of a greener education.

We plan to keep our carbon footprint as small as possible.

How we are making the college more environmentally friendly:

  • Have an environmental management system in place.
  • Manage the energy use of the office proceedings.
  • Manage water usages of the office and staff.
  • Use environmentally friendly cleaning products.
  • Manage waste sustainably: Implementing the 3 R’s – reduce, reuse and recycle.
  • No single use plastics.
  • All digital documentation.
  • Wherever possible student course materials sourced from recycled products.
  • The use of study text books via online resources and Ebooks.

"Nature itself is the best physician"

- Hippocrates

It has been rewarding to see so many students embrace the online learning portal. For many of our students you may have not realised the importance you have played in the ‘greener’ educational movement. You should feel proud to be studying with a greener and more sustainable conscious. We look forward to a continued effort in creating an inclusive and sustainable learning and living environment for everyone.

What can our students do to reduce their own personal carbon footprint?

Choose a green education course and login into your classroom.

Resist the temptation to print out emails. Create an online diary and reminders &/or flag the emails so you remember to act on them instead.

Most students need some stationery, try to avoid the use of plastic stationary items.

Look for recycled stationary items

Resist the urge to print everything. All of your course materials are online through the college learning portal, so you can view them, download and summarise them, then print out only the pages you really need.

Consider using recycled paper to print and remember to reuse paper that has only been printed on one side. Send back ink cartridges for recycling and also consider using environmentally friendly cartridges.

Set your computer and monitor power management controls to go into sleep mode when you are not using them, or better still switch them off. This may seem like a small thing to do, but collectively the energy saving is huge.

By logging into a course instead of driving or flying to one each day, you not only save time traveling, but you save on car or plane fuel emissions, fuel usage and parking.
